The Bournville Tree Trail

The Bournville Tree Wardens (see main menu), sponsored by Bournville Village Trust, have produced an excellent Tree Trail Guide. The trail starts at Selly Manor, moves onto the Village Green and finishes in Bournville Park.
The guide, which is available FREE from Selly Manor and the BVT (area) offices, identifies all the trees and hedges on the route. There are about twenty different types of tree and hedge at Selly Manor and on the Green and thirty-eight in the park.
At the Manor there are lime and yew hedges as well as several types of tree while another fifteen varieties can be found on the Green (Common Oak, Cherry, Beech, Holm Oak, White Beam, Turkey Oak, ...).

Bournville Park Trees

Bournville Park is very well planted with another good collection of trees, almost everyone is indicated in the guide. In fact there are thirty-eight different species, these include Ash, Alder, Crab Apple, Giant Redwood, Laburnum and even 'Snake Bark Maple'.

A map of the Green from the Tree Trail Guide is shown below.
