Stocks Wood
Work within the wood a year ago resulted in a wonderful show of blue bells last spring. Once again this year, working groups with the help of BTCV have been clearing laurel and other similarly invasive and unwanted plants from the wood.
The Tree Council
The Tree Council is the country's leading tree campaign oraganization, it's most long standing annual event is National Tree Week which marks the start of the tree planting season.
The Tree Council's National Grid Tree Warden Scheme is made up of 7,500 volunteers covering a third of the British Isles, which has 'grown' from just 170 people in 1990. The scheme has been supported by the 'National Grid' company since 1997 which has given £200,000 of grants to local authorities.
